The Fall 2026 SET was held on October 3. It was a simulation of a statewide weather event, not unlike the derecho that moved through the state in May 1998. A few facts about the exercise:
- 215 volunteers and agency personnel participated, including 51 from outside the AUXCOMM and ARES community.
- 32 of the volunteers were new or returning after an absence of 3 or more years.
- 19 counties participated.
- 5 out of 7 districts were represented in reporting.
Attendance was up from the Spring, but down from last Fall. This was primarily due to scheduling conflicts with amateur radio events not related to public service or public safety, and lower participation by outside agencies. Feedback from the exercise was generally positive. As with any exercise, some improvement opportunities were identified locally. The state after action report is being drafted and will be posted separately when itβs available.
Scores have been tabulated based on reports submitted, and the top counties are:
- Roscommon County in 1st place
- Macomb County in 2nd place
