The Spring 2025 Statewide AUXCOMM Exercise was held on May 3, with continued use of the simulation cell (simcell). The structure of the exercise was local activations as a result of contamination of local water supplies with the SEOC available to provide support. A few facts about the exercise:
- Over 250 volunteers and agency personnel participated, including 110 from outside the AUXCOMM community.
- 82 of the volunteers were new or returning after an absence of 3 or more years.
- 23 counties participated.
- All 7 districts were represented in reporting.
Overall feedback from the exercise was generally positive. A few deltas for future exercise include:
- The SEOC received about 110 Winlink Field Situation Reports over the course of the days prior to and the day of the exercise. The FEMA form is typically 10 times larger than the equivalent Winlink form, and would likely not reach the destination if either end was using an RF connection rather than internet.
- A gap was identified again between the Winlink resource request (ICS 213-RR) and the resource request board in MI CIMS, primarily where to deliver the resources. This was noted in the Fall exercise and will be included in the After Action Report and Incident Action Plan (AAR/IAP).
Scores have been tabulated based on reports submitted, and the top counties are:
- Wayne County in 1st place
- Roscommon County in 2nd place
- Grand Traverse County in 3rd place
Congratulations to all of the teams!
